Not even the production oversight of Takashi Tezuka can stop Yoshi’s New Island on Nintendo 3DS from being a bit of a let down.
All of the series’ core gameplay mechanics are in place, but the game doesn’t cohere into a satisfying platfroming experience.
Developer Arzest would later work on the similarly ho-hum Pikmin spin-off, Hey! Pikmin. The Yoshi franchise would find its feet again with Good-Feel’s Yoshi’s Woolly World in 2015.
