Golf – NES Box Art

Written by

Golf is not the best golf game for the Nintendo Entertainment System – that award goes to NES Open Tournament Golf – but it is one of the most interesting.

As a tribute to the great Satoru Iwata, the game – which was one of Iwata’s first projects for Nintendo – was hidden as an easter egg in the Nintendo Switch firmware. Golf could be accessed when the Switch system clock was set to July 11 and the player performed his famous ‘Nintendo Direct’ hand movements using two Joy-Con controllers. The game could also be played using motion controls.

Unfortunately, this lovely easter egg was removed with the Nintendo Switch’s 4.0 system update.
